Red Stalk celery has been grown since the 1700s. This celery has more of a robust flavor than many others, making it excellent for soups or stews. The stalks are thinner than modern celery, but the red color of the stalks is a nice addition to the garden.

Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sprinkle seed onto moist soil. Celery prefers light to germinate. About 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors.
