Pau d' arco is a slightly bitter, woodsy tasting herb tea with exciting medical health benefits. It is used by many during the cold and flu season, and is a remedy for smoker's cough. Pau d' arco reportedly has beneficial effects for cancer patients, anywhere from alleviation of chemotherapy symptoms to complete remission of tumors. It also appears to increase the production of red blood cells. The US cancer institute suggests Pau d' arco to be a promising agent in the treatment and/or management of leukemia, anemia and other blood disorders. Be aware that large doses may cause side effects such as anemia, diarrhea, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. Short term treatments are recommended. Don't drink for longer than six weeks at a time, and then wait a month before resuming the herbal treatment. Pau D’Arco has strong antibiotic and disinfectant properties, and is well suited for topical applications or skin compresses. Pau d'Arco has active principles, mainly lapachol and quercetin. It is rich in vitamins A, C, B-complex and minerals such as; calcium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, cobalt and chromium.
Pregnant women shouldn't drink the tea, and only use it as an moist compress.

DIRECTIONS: Use 6 oz of water for each tea bag. Pour hot water over tea and steep for 5-10 minutes. Covering the cup with a saucer during steeping will retain the most nutrients. Never boil botanicals. Steep longer if desired, or reuse tea bag for a second cup. Sweeten to taste with honey or stevia if desired. Garnish with orange, lemon, or a stevia leaf.
